Research Journal Assignment #13

A. I did a survey/poll with 25 of my co-workers.
The Question: Should the Holocaust be taught in public schools and why?
21 peoples answers were yes that the Holocaust should be taught in public schools.
4 peoples answers were no that it shouldn't be taught in public schools.
Two of the four people gave their responses on why they think that the Holocaust should not be taught in public schools. One reason was they didnt want their child to be taught about hatred at a young age. The second reason was that their family was Jewish and they didn't want their child to know what their ancestors went through until they were old enough to fully understand the content.

B. Ayer, Eleanor H. Teen Witnesses to the Holocaust: Ghettos. New York: The Rosen Publishing Group, 1999. 1-55. Print.

Greenfeld, Howard. After the Holocaust. New York: HarperCollins , 2001. 1-139. Print.
This source had a couple of good facts that helped me in my paper it was not what I expected though. I needed background information and it was just telling about what happened after the Holocaust and what certain people did.

Research Journal Assignment #3

A. I started my search in google and yahoo and I found some interesting articles and links to other pages that relate to my topic.

B. I need to narrow down my topic to something specific. I have to talk about a certain word or phrase that deals with holocaust denial like revisionism. I still don't know exactly how I want to go about my topic but I know it is important to me that I keep the fact that such a horrible thing happened to all these people and some people believe that it was all a lie. I want to write using this topic to try and get people to believe that this was real and did happen. I just don't know how to write that in a question.

C. 1. Why do people try to deny the Holocause when there is actual proof that it happened? What was the reason people started to deny the Holocaust? Should the Holocaust be taught in school? When the revisionists see the actual evidence, will they then believe the tragedy that happened? Why should they not believe that it happened when there is evidence and living people who were there?

Research Journal Assignment #2

A. Some topics I have selected are voyeurism, sex crimes, sexual assault and the law, mental illnesses, serial killers, prayer in public schools, and Holocaust education.

B. I am want to do something on the Holocaust education or something to do with serial killers. They both are very interesting topics to me. I chose Holocaust education because when I first started learning about it in school it broke my heart to find out that just one man can do so much damage to the world and kill so many people because of the way they look. It also caught me off guard when kids in my class said that their parents don't want them to learn about the subject because it never happened. It is a very controversial subject so that should help with researching the topic.
*Adolf Hitler was the man behind this
*Concentration camps
*Some techniques he used to kill people
*He separated families and made them work hard
I am sure that I still don't know a lot about the subject which is why I want to research this more and get a better perspective about the topic and why it is such a controversial topic in schools.
